Imagine walking into a restaurant to order a meal with one condition—you are the one who has to make it. Bizarre, isn’t it?
It’s called “Rejection therapy.”
Rejection therapy is a self-help challenge and game, popularized online. The idea is to put yourself in a situation where rejection is almost guaranteed—asking for unusual favours, bold requests, and even stepping out of your comfort zone still counts.
It’s popular nowadays within Gen Z. The goal is to experience people’s rejection daily in order to improve their confidence and to be less afraid of judgment.
Bassant Sherif, an Egyptian, spoke about her rejections in job applications. She said that each rejection sharpened her skills, gave direction, and helped her build values.
The #rejectiontherapy hashtag has been trendy via multiple social media platforms, gaining millions of views and highlighting the challenge’s widespread benefits.
For some, rejection therapy is just a trend. For others, it’s a cure for a fear they always carried.
